Camping in Pine Valley, Utah

We had a wonderful time this weekend going camping in Pine Valley, Utah (about 35 north of St. George, Utah). We left hot Las Vegas Friday afternoon in search of cooler weather and found it!

On the way to Utah we encountered a roll over accident and had to stop for a few minutes on I-15 (see photo). Once we got to Pine Valley (via a short pit stop at DeAnna's mom's house in Washington, Utah (just north of St. George)for some supplies) we found the campgrounds to be full. Luckily we were able to spend Friday night in the equestrian parking lot before getting our wonderful camp site on Saturday morning three miles up the mountain.

Our final camp site was great! It had a stream running through the back side of it and was among the trees and no rocks (unlike the parking lot). The kids had a blast playing in the cool snow run-off water stream. Jarrett attempted to dam off the water without success. Hannah managed to catch a water snake. Lissy and Gabby just had fun splashing in the water and getting wet (later seeing how much of the mountain they can get on them). Kelsea played in the water a bit, but also played Phase 10 with adults at camp also.

DeAnna's mom, Linda, and step-dad, Lee, came up for the day. In the morning we went fishing (and now I know why we call it "fishing" and not "catching"). To our surprise DeAnna's aunts and uncles (Linda's bothers and wives) came up for part of the day also (they were visiting Linda from Northern Utah). It was nice to see them as it had been several years and a few kids ago since we last saw them. DeAnna's sister Jackie also came up Saturday evening and spent the night with us. Lots of family visiting time...

We had a great trip home listening to CD's including "LOVE," the soundtrack for the show at the Mirage based on the Beetles music. Lissy played air guitar for most of the CD.

And of course, I managed to take a number of photos (a small sample below - not in order)...

It has been quite sometime since we went camping as a family. Dustin is a bit of a painsy. :o) - he would probably deny this if he was reading it!

The last time we went camping it was in March a couple of years ago and it started to snow (barely) when we woke up after our first night and he was too cold. He was freezing and didn't want to stay another night so we packed up and went home. Needless to say we (except Dustin) were all bummed. :o)
